Support Services at WACO Elementary Food Service The elementary kitchen in Crawfordsville is staffed by three cooks: Alice Hochstetler, Cedra Schlatter, and Jennifer Miller. Students are always greeted with a smile.
The elementary cooks prepare an average of 241 lunches each school day. Breakfast is also served to students who wish to participate.
In 1999 WACO had a major renovation and addition project at the elementary building. The Crawfordsville cooks are enjoying the recently remodeled kitchen and cafeteria area. The project included new equipment, a remodeled food preparation area, and a re-designed service queue. Secondary Food Service Three cooks prepare and serve the meals at the secondary building in Wayland: Jackie Morrow, Pam Davis, and Nancy Mattocks. Jackie Morrow serves as the head cook and oversees the operations at both attendance centers.
An average of 211 lunches are served each day in Wayland. The secondary students and staff enjoy being able to choose between the full lunch menu, a sald bar, or an ala carte line. There is also a breakfast program provided for students who arrive early and wish to purchase breakfast. This service is appreciated by athletes who attend early morning practices or work-outs in the weight room.
Elementary Custodial Services Larry Black and Mike Massey work very hard keeping the elementary building clean and shining.
The building consists of 21 classrooms plus a gym, a cafeteria, office areas, and all the hallways and stairs connecting these spaces. This amounts to approximately 45,242 square feet of area to maintain as a clean and safe environment for student learning.
The original 3-story portion of the elementary school was built in the 1920's. In 1999, a 2-story addition was connected and all of the old building was remodeled.
Secondary Custodial Services The secondary building in Wayland is kept clean by Candie Arbogast and Gina Stauffer.
This building was built in 1990. The building consists of three classroom wings, 2 gyms, a cafeteria, and rooms for music, industrial arts, wrestling, and weight-lifting.
This building sees a lot of evening activity when hosting athletic practices, competitions and fine arts programs all of which are well attended by community persons.
Maintenance and Groundskeeping Rollin Davison handles the maintenance function for the district, handling various maintenance duties at both attendance centers. Jim Meyer does the groundskeeping which includes upkeep of the athletic fields and practice areas.
The athletic fields are located adjacent to the secondary building in Wayland.
Transportation WACO has eight regular daily bus routes plus several special education routes.
Students are transported to school and extra-curriculur events by: Doris Sinn-Hauenstein, Marjorie VanWinkle, Steve Conrad, Eugene Boese, Chris Alvine, Everett Hauenstein, Suzi Shepherd, Marti Baker, Dick Chorpening, and Jim Meyer.
All together, these drivers travel more than 670 miles per day, carrying an average of 392 students.
