Welcome to Sociology I. This is a one-semester course introducing students to the study of sociology. It is taught during first semester, and students have the option to continue this course of study the following semester in Sociology II. Units of study in Sociology I include culture, American values and norms, the social structure of groups, deviance and criminal behavior, and adolescence & adult development. Students are expected to participate in class discussions & cooperative learning work, as well as complete group & individual readings & projects, personal reflections, and various other activities.
