In addition students will be exposed a variety of literature including: short stories, novels, poetry, and a Shakespearean play.

English II (10th Grade)

Short stories, nonfiction essays, novels, poetry, the history of the English language, and drama combined with personal, critical and interpretive writing constitute the curriculm's content. Charal reading, independent reading/research, projects, and dramatic acting are also part of the class's design.

American Literature

American Literature chronologically surveys a range of American short stories, poems, and essays from Puritans to Modern American Literature. A variety of selections are read, written about, and discussed. Emphasized is the idea of history behind the writing, rather than just what the story, poem, or essay is about. Literary terms, vocabulary, periods or "schools" of literature, author's background and style are also considered as part of the study. Students will be graded on journal writing, discussion, daily assignments, quizzes and tests.
