This course will cover all geometric concepts necessary for further math studies. Emphasis will be placed on high level thinking with a definite trend toward mental computation. Proofs will be introduced and worked in paragraph and two column form. The importance of planning for definite outcomes will be discussed in great detail. Algebra will be reviewed, but students are presumed to have sufficient knowledge carried over to keep review to a minimum. Some computer software applications will be utilized. All students will take a third year math course the following year.
We will cover three chapters each 9 weeks, followed by a nine weeks test. This may be slightly different, depending on having to spend extra time on some areas. Each test is worth 100 points. I will give a daily assignment grade of 20 points each week. We will try to have a 20 point quiz every week. We should have 500-600 possible points each 9 weeks. Any student getting below a 70% on a test can come in after school the day or day after the test score is given, and correct and demonstrate further knowledge. I will then give them bonus points, but they can't raise it above 70%.
