Responsibilities:
Library Media Specialist
* The library Media Specialist organizes, directs and supervises the personel, resources and services essential to maintaining library media programs at both educational centers focused on student's needs and the instructional goals of the WACO School District.
* The Library Media Specialist develops and continually updates the professional expertise necessary to function effectively in the in the Library Media Specialist role.
* The Library Media Specialist provides students and staff with collaberative instruction in the areas of library skills, classroom enrichments, and the use of information technology and search strategies.
* The Library Media Specialist participates in the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of paraprofessional staff in the Library Media Center.
* The Library Media Specialist continually updates and expands the library collection of books, periodicals, and reference materials to meet the needs of students and staff.
* The Library Media Specialist continually updates and improves the computer hardware and software available in the library to meet the needs of students and staff.
* The Library Media Specialist maintains and upgrades the audiovisual collection and equipment used in the district and serves as a liaison between the district and av providers such as the Area Education Association.
* The Library Media Specialist pomotes reading, oversees an orderly circulation of reading materials and defends intellectual freedom and the right to read. |
