WACO Foundation
Background
The WACO Community Schools Foundation was formed by the action of the WACO Board of Education on February 17, 2003. The original Board of Directors included Melvin Bergstrom, Mark Graber, Bob Meyer, Stacy Peterson, Mike Roth, Ken Shelman, and Russell Wager. Shari Janecek was appointed as the Board of Education representative. The Foundation Board serves as an ad hoc committee formed by a resolution of the Board of Education. The Foundation Board is subject to the open meetings laws of the State of Iowa with the exception it is not required to publish minutes of meetings conducted.
Mission
The mission of the WACO Community Schools Foundation is to provide patrons and alumni of the WACO Community School District the opportunity to provide support for all programs and projects offered by the WACO Schools.
Tax Exempt Status
The Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable, educational purposes within the guidelines of Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Foundation is currently accepting tax-deductible donations. It is our hope that patrons and alumni will support WACO Schools and assist in providing all students the opportunity to be successful in life.
Projects
Each donor may designate a specific program, scholarship, or project they wish to support. The Board of Directors is committed to assure that the donor’s wishes are met.

At this time the Foundation Board has identified the following projects:
• Fine Arts Center (click on the link above for more information)
• Pre-school scholarships
• All weather track
