The southeast Iowa towns of Wayland, Crawfordsville, Olds, Swedesburg, Coppock, Noble, and the surrounding rural areas make up the district. The district was first merged in 1961, with the first class graduating in 1962. WACO has two attendance centers. A newly remodeled elementary building in Crawfordsville houses Pre-K through Grade 6. The secondary building in Wayland is for Grades 7 through 12.

Comprehensive School Improvement Plan
WACO recently received certification of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) which is filed with the Iowa Department of Education. This is a report that is written by the CSIP Committee with input from the School Improvement Advisory Committee as well as the staff.

The CSIP Committee is chaired by Megan Kirkland, our Curriculum Director. Other members of the committee are Chad Edeker, Sandy Vantiger, Veronica Slagel, Audra Barnhart, Vicki Reynolds, Roger Thornburg, Darrell Smith, and Kim Sheets.
