I am Mrs. Grimm and have been at WACO School since 1992 teaching kindergarten. I have my Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa. I enjoy learning new ideas that are effective teaching tools for the classroom. We explore reading with letter and sound activities (Scott Foresman series), literacy centers, and guided reading groups. We have a specialized independent reading program called RAH (Reading at Home) where children can read little books at their comfort level. We have implemented the 6+1 Trait Writing Program where children learn the important components of the writing process. Our math program is dap (developmental activities program). It is a hands-on manipulatives approach that incorporates teacher questioning with higher-order thinking by children. Our FOSS science units are Trees and Animals Two by Two. In Social Studies our curriculum focus is on families and community workers. We welcome volunteers and encourage parental involvement in and out of the classroom.
